Classroom Management Plan

February 2012 Rules 1) Come into the music room quietly and find your seat 2) Listen when someone else is talking, singing, or playing 3) Respect each other, the teacher, and the classroom 4) Keep your hands and feet to yourself 5) Always do your best work In my classroom, it will be very important to establish classroom routines early in the year. These rules will define behaviors that are expected of my students. I choose to look for students who are doing the right thing rather than focus on students doing the wrong things. However, there will be moments in which students will need to be corrected. When certain behaviors need to be addressed during a lesson, I will follow a sequence. First, I will make eye contact with the student. If the behavior persists, I will move closer to the student. Only if the behavior continues will I give a short verbal correction. Depending on the circumstances, it may be necessary to either move the student or speak to the student after class. In an elementary classroom, I would create a reward system that will earn classes some sort of token (perhaps a marble or something similar) when they perform well. When the class has collected a certain amount of these tokens, they will earn a prize. I think this will provide healthy motivation for students as well as help establish my standard for good work. |
