Graystone Academy
Since the Fall of 2012, I am teaching at Graystone Academy Charter School. I teach K-5 music as well as direct a choir for students in grades 3-5. As a music department, we put on two concerts a year to showcase the talents of our band and choir.
At Graystone, I have been a part of the school's PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports) Initiative. This program has given me insight into better classroom management and the value of a positive reward system. Students in my classes can look forward to a Music Star of the Day chosen after each class. This student then chooses a bingo chip and their name goes in that number spot on our class bingo board. When a bingo occurs on the board, those students receive a special prize. This is one system I have in place which allows students to strive for positive behavior.
Below I have provided a First Grade lesson plan from the week of November 12, 2012.
There is also a Fourth Grade lesson plan from the week of April 29, 2013.
